Book 1: #Nerd
I will admit, the premise of the first book in this series had a trope I wasn’t sure about. The trope is a jock and a nerd who get together and navigate the world in where you are supposed to stay with your group. I was a little tired of that trope at the time. It took me a few times seeing the first book of the series, which is named #Nerd, in my Amazon Kindle Unlimited list for me to actually decide to read it.
Needless to say, I should’ve read it from the first moment I saw it on my list. This book is incredible. Romeo and Rimmel have an incredible story. There is so much character growth from both of them in the first book itself that I was amazed.
I immediately fell in love with Rimmel. She is a stereotyped “nerd.” She has the glasses, the non-fashion sense, is clumsy and just wants to get through college. Romeo, on the other hand, is the stereotyped “jock.” He is the quarterback of the football team, a lady’s man and rules the campus of Alpha U. It took me a moment to fall in love with him, but once he shed the masks he was wearing, he totally became my “book boyfriend.”
The typical trope, the jock needs help with school, so is forced to be tutored by the nerd. Obviously, the two fall in love. I don’t want to give everything away, but a dare is involved, drama ensues and our main characters are put through the ringer. There is just enough actual Football in here as well to make it great for a sports enthusiast like me. The writing is spectacular. The heat in this book is written beautifully and has the perfect balance of detail and non-detail. I am a reader who likes some steam, but I also have learned that I can do without the graphic erotica that is in some novels. Hats off to whoever loves those stories and if they are well written, I can dabble.
The Rest of the Series
There are seven books total in the series as well as two novellas and a coloring book. The series has won a bunch of awards and is by far Cambria Hebert’s most successful series to date. She has many other books and series to read, all of which are amazing in their own right. Once you find an author that you like, you want to read all of their work. I will say that I have read almost all of Cambria’s work and I have reviewed other series that she has written that you can find in other blog posts.
It was hard to say goodbye to this series when I read the last book. Cambria gave her readers multiple surprises, however, when she came out with the first novella, another full-length novel, followed by the coloring book with bonus scenes (super fun, I might add) and one more novella after that. The series kept going and I was loving it! The series has since been put to rest but was ended in such a way that was perfect. I think all of her readers are extremely happy with how everything was wrapped up in a perfect bow.
Bonus
Cambria goes on to write a couple more series that interconnect some characters from the #Hashtag Series, so her readers get a taste of their favorite characters. She has created this whole world that is amazing and I can admit, I have re-read this series multiple times and will continue to re-read them well into the future.
You can find the #Hashtag Series on Cambria Hebert’s website as well as the rest of her amazing work. I hope you love this series as much as I do, and if not, well, that’s ok, too.
Until the next book.
Happy reading!
