A New Twist on Fairy Tales
We finally have a new Cambria Hebert book out and it sounds like she has a new series in the works. She has taken on modern fairy tales and the first one is based on Snow White. I’ve read some other takes on modern fairy tales and it’s fun to bring a new spin on the stories. Cambria is no different. This book was fun and had some mystery. It sucked you in right away because there is an attempted murder on our Heroine and you get to be in the mind of who she calls the Huntsman. At first, I thought it was going to be the Huntsman that was going to end up being our Hero, but alas he is not. There is connection, though and it is juicy!
Spoiled Princess
I have to admit, I wasn’t a big fan of our Heroine, Ivory White. She comes off as spoiled, naive and arrogant. Yes, she owns two companies, is very wealthy and has a lot of money, but that doesn’t mean she needs to be the way she is. There is character development. She does have a great heart underneath her damsel in distress exterior, but sometimes it was too much for me. I would’ve liked to see her be a little less Upper East Side. I normally love Cambria’s Heroines, but this one didn’t make my top lists. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like the story, though, because our Hero is one for the top.
He Who is Not a Prince
Neo is our lovely Hero in this story. He is a stubborn alpha, a little bit bad and a whole lot of sexy. You instantly fall in love with him. You actually fall in love with all the misfits but for now, he is the favorite. I’m intrigued for the other stories, but back to Neo. He sees the spoiled princess for who she is but wants to take care of her anyway. He saves her life more than once and helps her come back down to earth on the occasions that she needs to. At first, you think he is just using her, but he is just too scared to love and have someone ripped away from him again. His past is tortured and it brought tears to my eyes when I was reading his story. He has gone through love and loss and Cambria writes it so beautifully that you can’t help but be drawn into the story he tells.
All the Misfits
There is a great group in this story that I can’t wait to dive into further. Neo lives with four other misfits (who are compared to the seven dwarfs from the fairy tale) and you fall in love with each one of them. There is a little hint as to what one of the stories might be, which would be another M/M romance and I hope we don’t have to wait long for it. The others have more of a mystery to them and I can’t figure out which direction they would go in in terms of their fairy tale, but I can’t wait to find out.
She’s Back
If you don’t know who Cambria Hebert is yet, you wouldn’t know that this is her first release of 2020. She has been open about her struggles with writing this year and it is great to have an Author so open and willing to share her story with her readers. She has a great fan base who supports her and would wait for whatever she writes no matter how long it takes. I am glad to say that I am one of them. It has been fun to have a story from Cambria again and I’m excited to see where she goes from here. Give this book a read and I promise you won’t be disappointed. You can find this book and all her others here.
Until the next book.
Happy reading!
